President's Message

The association was formed in 1993 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the mining of the USS Westchester County in Vietnam. It is the intent of the U.S.S. Westchester County, LST 1167 Association to:

• Preserve the military record, and naval history of the U.S.S. Westchester County, LST 1167, and to perpetuate the memory of her service. Honor those who gave their lives in the service of this country while aboard U.S.S. Westchester County, LST 1167.
• Comfort those who lost family, shipmates, and friends aboard the U.S.S. Westchester County, LST 1167.

The membership has since brought together over a hundred former shipmates and their families and guests at various reunions held around the country. Reunions have been held in Westchester County, New York (1993), Las Vegas (1994), Washington, D.C. (1995), New Orleans (1997), San Diego (1998), Minneapolis (1999), Atlanta (2000), Colorado Springs (2001), Seattle (2002), Mt. Kisco, Westchester County, NY (2003), Mobile, AL (2004), San Diego (2006), Washington, DC (2006), Branson, MO (2007), Sacramento (2008)and in 2009 will be in Colorado Springs. Membership is open to all who meet at least one of the following criteria:

• Must have served aboard the U.S.S.. Westchester County, LST 1167 Any U.S. Navy, U.S. Army or Allied Forces stationed, serving or involved in operations aboard U.S.S. Westchester County, LST 1167 Any relative of anyone stationed, serving or involved in operations aboard U.S.S. Westchester County, LST 1167
• Parties interested in preserving the Naval History of U.S.S. Westchester County, LST 1167
